What are Slow Twinkles?

Slow Twinkles CDs are wonderful foundation CDs based upon the 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' variations found in the Suzuki Book 1 for string instruments. Each variation has been recorded at six different preparatory speeds to help beginning students play the rhythms and notes more accurately with a sense of success. As teachers and parents know, each step is a step closer to mastery. With these small buildling blocks, students will feel better about their playing and will want to use this tool to help them learn more, and faster!

Why should I use Slow Twinkles? Isn't the recording on the CD good enough to practice with?

The recording on the CD to book 1 is wonderful, but most students will not be able to play with that CD for a very long time. Why not break this huge hurdle into small steps that students can master.

Should my students just listen to the CD, or should they play along with it?

The answer is Yes and Yes. Repetitive listening is important for success. This detailed and repetitive listening 'opens up' the student so that they learn what the pitches, rhythms, and styles sound like.

Playing with the CD is a must so that the student knows he/she is 'on track.' Another convenient feature of the recording is that the Violin is recorded on the right track and the piano on the left so that the student can play along with the instrument and piano, or just the piano or instrument. Instant accompaniments at various speeds, and great for student recitals!
